January 27, 2024 - Very solid Giacosa! My first time tasting the 95’ vintage of this wine and it didn’t disappoint. Lovely bright red cherries & super fresh!

July 19, 2023 - Summer BYO dinner at Murano (Murano, London): Opened and double decanted some hours before drinking. Medium to light body. Lovely complex nose, dried peel and dried flowers, cherry fruit, a little soft leather, it glides across the palate, really fresh and vibrant, it got reeled in by the 97 Sperss over time, but a really lovely wine at its peak

December 18, 2022 - Quiet at first with a not so clean nose.
Decanted for about an hour, it really took off. Dried red fruits, underbrush, dried leaves, mint and orange peel.
Very complex and ever changing bouquet.
Palate was not tired at all, very precise, not as super long but extremely elegant with smooth silky tannins.
Not the greatest vintage in the 90's, but Giacosa rarely disappoints, even if the wines are not always on.

December 24, 2020 - Had lots of sediement.
Had to leave 1/3 of the bottle due to sediment. That will settle.
The decanted portion still has no nose. It's still closed even after 5 hours.
No matter. It will sit until ready.
As of now, it tastes off, but that will resolve.

There is energy, length and much to love here, but in another 24-36 hours.
Honey, herbs, depths of a volcano, the strength of Serralunga.

August 9, 2020 - Opened about 5 hours before serving as the short ribs start their simmer. These always start tight on the initial glass poured to follow it's opening-up progress. This gets more giving as it gets air and with the meal it is soft with luscious cherry flavors, a light floral touch on the nose and this great balance into a clean pretty finish. Lovely on it's own but really shines with the meat gravy of drippings, root veg, and a bottle of Nebbiolo all reduced to drizzle over the dish. Heaven. After 25 years this isn't going anywhere so drink when the spirit says open it.
