    August 26, 2023 - I will gladly give it a 92 this time.

July 28, 2023 - 92 is a valid rating, but my last two ratings, of the 2018 Ürziger Würzgarten and previous vintage of this wine here, force me to take it one notch below 92 because I feel it is ever so slightly less intense than the 2018. Yet this is tentative and will have to be explored further. Nettles, acacia honey, mango, lemon, quince and gun powder seem to be the notes around which all of these wines by the old vintner brothers under this name revolve. Notice: from vintage 2020 on this estate was taken over by Selbach-Oster !

June 6, 2023 - Prior bottle was almost 14 months ago and this wine is slowly evolving along the lines I'd hoped. Nose still shows mostly white apple and pear, with white peach as a background element. Close to medium bodied with white apple upfront as well as contrasting white pear, adding white peach through the middle with some tropical highlights. Backside continue to show acidity, spices, minerals and citrus notes. The acidity still has quite a bit of kick and while it still conceals much of the tropical notes, the white peach was better resolved this time. In general, the acidity is coming into better balance with the fruit and the fruit is slowly showing more complexity. Perhaps not evolving as quickly as I anticipated and therefore worth continuing to hold. I'll wait for Summer 2024 for my next bottle and perhaps even longer. Even if you enjoy the high acidity (as I do), this is worth holding for more time as the improved balance is worth waiting for.

April 17, 2022 - White apple and pear on the nose and as it warms, some smokey peach notes. Between light and medium bodied (8% ABV) with white apple upfront, with white pear behind for contrast. Brings in white peach through the middle with increasing density as well as some richer tropical highlights towards the far back. Fruit through the middle took some time to resolve and a good amount of the complexity is still concealed by acidity. The acidity itself has some zip, but is acting in more of dampening fashion at present. Minerals, spices and acidity on the backside and through the finish. Should gain in complexity as well as depth with more time. Next bottle for me, Q2 2023.
