April 5, 2023 - Agree with what other reviewers said before. It does start a little closed, however, given a little time it opens and reveals delicate raspberries and a pleasant earthiness. This was much better on day 2.

July 18, 2022 - Light nose with ferns and red fruits. Good balance on the palate but also a bit shy/dimmed. Pretty. P

October 2, 2021 - A very open and giving young Chandon de Briailles. Aromas of raspberry, dark cherry, forest floor, beets, a little violets and raw cacao. Plush and succulent on the palate, lots of ripe juicy berry and clear woodsy Pinot character. Fresh finish is focused on beautiful dark fruit but there's nice floral and earthy nuance too. This will get more interesting in a few years and will hold up well for a decade or so.

August 17, 2021 - This pours medium ruby, notably a shade more opaque in the glass than other recent experiences I've had with Chandon de Briailles (2017 for example). The nose is deep and reticent but opens a little to reveal cassis, plum, strawberries soaked in syrup and alcohol, cinnamon, Christmas cake, pine needles, and the faintest touch of forest floor. The palate is quite clamped down quickly turning to very astringent medium tannin, medium acid, and a finish that just barely escapes the incredibly astringent palate to show a touch of alcohol and the mixed fruit of the accented by faint spiciness. Overall we have a wine that doesn't show nearly the early accessibility of its stablemates from 2017 and 2014 I've consumed in the past few years. Quite closed and clamped down really. It is certainly marked by it's vintage. While the fruit impressively doesn't show overripe there is certainly some of the 14% alcohol showing here and the fruit veers darker than I might prefer. Note to self, do not touch for a minimum of 10 years and pray this come together, because it is not an enjoyable drink today. If forced to score I'd place this around 90, perhaps 91, expecting it should achieve this with age and if lucky even pick up a point or two more.
