August 25, 2014 - The Eatery: Gorgeous (relatively) youthful color of faded dark ruby with even garnet bricking with moderate concentration; brand new label indicating new release from the Chateau no doubt; Nose is full of a bit faded but still present cab notes of dried cassis, dried cherry, pipe tobacco, spice box, moss, ferns and dried underbrush. The fruit really stands out which is surprising; in the mouth it is silky, faint chalky tannins still left, soft, with somewhat sour cherry notes; somewhat simple and maybe even a bit boring, but in amazingly great shape for an Haut-Medoc at this age. The nose and color are the best things about this wine, and a great addition for comparison to the other '64's. 88-89.

December 24, 2011 - Should be long dead by now, but this case from what must have been perfect provenance proved the theory wrong. THis was never a top wine, but after 47 years in this bottle it was still very pleasant, with an initially very sweet nose, but getting fuller and even fruitier soon afterwards. Color much more dark and red than one would expect.
