Community Tasting Notes 30

September 19, 2021 - Heaters at Jade Court (Chicago, IL): The nose here is much less impressive than the palate -- the nose is mostly just old Burgundy, with some mulchy qualities. The palate does show the stemmy Dujac spice here. Silky and resolved, but with a slight coarseness versus some of the other sites that Dujac has. Ripe and matured fruit; quite tasty overall.

July 13, 2020 - Pale, translucent brick red colour. Lovely "perfumey" bouquet, with notes of montmorency cherries and cedar. No typical "barn-yardey" Gevrey whiffs. Nice structure and backbone in mouth, if a little dry-feeling, lots of fruit, and a a medium length finish. Definitely better than the disappointing 1999 !

August 8, 2019 - Mesmerising. Still so fresh and long. Beautiful floral and spice character. Marzipan ? Went perfectly with grilled lamb steaks. A real treat

July 4, 2017 - WOTN at 4th July eve dinner, opened this after having had it last night and was fantastic, my note from that bottle stands, though this one had just a tiny bit less of everything on the palate... still awesome but down one point

July 3, 2017 - Wow... this was really really nice, having had a bottle of 2001 that wasn't nearly as good my expectations were exceeded, this bottle was more to the darker side of the fruit spectrum (which is not always to my liking) but this bottle sang, great mouthfeel with some glycerin and beautiful blueberry fruit, and the kicker - which made this wine - was the nice sandalwood / spice notes on the palate, I would call it luxiourious and velvety in the mouth and going down, beautiful surfboard wax and florals/perfume on the nose to boot... my instinct is to drink now thru 5 years fwd as it is so good and why risk the downside
