    June 17, 2023 - Quite nice, fresh, moderate rich dark red, black and blue fruit--crunchy with well balanced acid and tannin, layered nicely, lots of character in the raspberry, black cherry, blueberry amalgam. Great qpr.

    December 5, 2022 - Drunk over 2 nights. Unless there is serious bottle variation, I am not sure what the rub is with this wine for many of the folks who have posted notes. This is interesting and transparent and shows great character. If you enjoy legitimate French table wine, this is good juice. I can tell this has had a couple of years to unfurl and it is drinking well now +2 years.

    Drank over 2 nights. I had 3/4 of the bottle.

    June 14, 2022 - Yep, I think I'm done buying Beaujolais for home consumption. It has its place out & about, say as a single glass pour - but trying to consume this varietal like a normal red (food-paired or not) never works in my favor.

    November 6, 2021 - This will not be satisfactory as an appealing, lower-priced wine from burgundy region to go with modest, everyday cooking. Much prefer to pay $6-8 more for Isola e Elena Chianti or Burgaud Morgon Cote de Puy.// believe it or not, I have been refrigerating, then drinking this wine for 3 days now. Tonight, I forgot to remove from refrigerator a couple hours before dinner, so I poured a glass and put it under my food warmer to speed up the warming process. Then I forgot about it for an hour. When I came back, it was probably warmed to at least 74 or 75 degrees and it had actually improved considerably. Surprise! Surprise!

    October 2, 2021 - Hmmm - purchased as a replacement/upgrade for depleted stock at the relatives’ house. Delighted to find this. Looking forward to a redeeming review after the disappointing 2018 bottle.

    Day 1: with garlic chicken breast, mixed vegetables, rosemary roasted red potatoes, brown rice, and leftover strip steak.

    Our cork puller noted a little “movement” in the cork, but no other worries.

    Pleasant medium-dark red/purple. The color is fantastic and draws you in. Youthful purple edges.

    Onto the nose: “locker room,” sweaty, and pungent. Sulfury. Tempted (again) to consider this as a flawed bottle, but from others’ notes (and previous experience) it seems like this particular wine is a mixed bag. This did not evolve after sitting for and hour on the table and in the fridge.

    On the palate: Sour, sour cherry, and a little acidic. One taster said crabapple and dust. Another said bile. Not getting any pleasant fruit. Taster four said it’s drinkable provided that it was served by someone else.

    Ratings ranged from 77-85. Tempted to write off as flawed but our experience was similar to some others.

    We’re moving immediately onto the Burgaud Regnie to see if our last two bottles of Burgaud were atypical or if we just can’t appreciate this producer’s wines.

    Day 2 update: similar to day 1 with a little less brimstone.
