    November 14, 2023 - I always find Corton a bit strange.

It's like an awkward guest at a party. He's a bit shy and a bit embarrassed to be there. Nice guy, but usually underwhelming.

But this bottle was the guy who hung out on the stairs telling me that the host was a dick. Like Duckie from Pretty In Pink.

Grand Cru Burgundy can never be punk but this was a bottle with attitude.

Big, bold and confident on its own terms. It felt like it had taken its own time to be opened. It was absolutely ready to go. Layers of earth and aged cherries and that something that truly great Burgundy delivers and keeps us chasing that I still can't define.

Shared with TheWineBum at Bouchon Racine over the best confit duck of all time.

September 2, 2022 - With about 30 minutes of air, the slight funkiness on the finish cleared up, and the wine was drinking very nicely.

January 27, 2012 - very tight which reflects the 91. started to open up after an hour to show a nice bouuet of earth, and gamey scents. tannins are starting to soften but i'd give it another couple years and i could see the rating improve by a couple of points
