March 28, 2023 - Stood three days, decanted two hours, lot of sediment on shoulder
Eucalyptus fruit, warm spice, doesn’t appear anything like 18 years old

January 10, 2021 - Our last bottle, certainly the freshest and definitely one of the most enjoyable. Dark, jammy, and at times confected, fruits on the nose, cedar and exotic spices. Some bottles have been a bit jammy and at times port like on the palate but this one was incredibly fresh with loads of acidity that really stood up to the fruit and provided a rather enjoyable balance. Lots of tannin and a little heat from the alcohol. Medium to long finish.

November 21, 2020 - Cedar, exotic spices, tobacco and jammy fruits on the nose. Sweet ripe black fruit on the palate along with tobacco and spice. Not quite as together as the previous bottle. Medium finish. Still an enjoyable wine that is in a good place and has plenty of time ahead of it.

June 21, 2020 - Lots of exotic spices on the nose and slightly jammier fruits than the previous two bottles. Dark, ripe black fruits on the palate that again are slightly sweet but there is also good acidity that keeps things in balance. Medium finish. This bottle didn't show quite as well as the previous one but was again very enjoyable. This wine is in a good place with 15 years of age and represents excellent value.

June 15, 2020 - Cork, 14.5% alc. Mataro 55%, Shiraz 45%. Excellent cork. Dense and dirty dark crimson red.
Grilled meat, iron, sarsaparilla, and a green leafy note. Oak is somewhat obvious. A blue-fruited sweetness hovers above the wine. Creaming soda!
Glossy mouthfeel, with fine dusty tannins. Comes across a touch pruney and porty with a lack of freshness however there’s no denying the impressive length of finish. Alcohol heat is noticeable, likewise the malty oak that ultimately provides most of the drying sensation on the palate. The green element detected on the nose comes and goes on the palate yet presents more like an unripe element.
Opinion: Not sure what to make of this wine. Every time I go back to the glass, thinking it’s seen better days, it throws up something intriguing. Looked its best after 3 days; more composed and less edgy.
