August 17, 2014 - While I generally prefer Viognier on the young side (esp French) to get the max aromatic impact, this bottle once again showed that Alban's version can indeed show a beautiful harmony and smoothness with age. Bottle probably at peak from a flavor mouth feel prospective. This was tasty stuff that got better as it warmed up a bit and had a chance to air. Very extracted, flavorful yet the acidity was perfectly balanced. If you got em, id recommend you drink up.

January 17, 2014 - Alban's Viognier remains one of our favorite wines. Took about 1/2 hr out of the fridge to get to the optimum temperature & open up to its full glory. Was perfect with the variety of cheeses consumed while cooking and then with the roasted chicken entree. Will add specific tasting notes in future. Wish we had saved an '05 for an '05-'07 vertical tasting, because by memory the '06 seems to be the lighter of the 3 vintages.

October 26, 2012 - Pop/pour. 89 points. I think I might have missed the window on this one by a year or so. Pleasant but heavy. Resinous fruits with a touch of malo butter and quite a bit of oak. Definitely a winter white. There's nothing here that's fresh / lively / light. If anyone has any of these left, a fire in the fireplace on a snowy winter evening is where this one would shine, with the crackling wood and smoke pairing nicely with the oak on this. Update: after 30 minutes, the fruit pushes its way forward, providing a much better balance against the oak. Cracks 90 its for me.

September 5, 2011 - Strait out of the bottle this has a richness, depth, and complexity that I have not yet found in a California Viognier. The mouthfeel is wonderful with a hint of oily viscosity that allows the wine to coat the mouth. There is a nice level of acidity to the wine. The nose is sweet honeysuckle while the flavor adds some stone fruit. I wish it had a little more minerality like Condrieu, but this could be as close to the intensity of La Doraine as any Californian winemaker could hope for.

February 8, 2011 - Floral, oak and spice nose. Oily palate with a bunch of viscosity and sweetness with some acidity and verve to add lift. Nice wine in a heavier style.
