November 6, 2017 - 2000 CHATEAU JEAN de GUE LALANDE-de-POMEROL- lots of red and black fruit with some smoke and liquorice accents; it was tangy, oaky and tannic.

September 27, 2013 - Mellow nicely aged with good acid and finish. Certainly fine right now, may have some more time in it but I would go for it now.

December 20, 2012 - Open 3 hours, enjoyed with pizza: Little to no bricking. Smells really good, cocoa, dried cherry, dried herbs, tobacco, gravel and the faintest hint of graphite, all integrated and somehow creamy. Awesome. Texturally this is really nice, medium bodied with balanced acidity and very mellow but present tannin that dry the gums very late. The flavors on the palate stick to black cherry and dried cranberry. The herbal thing from the nose is present but light, also some sweet pipe tobacco and rich earth in the mid-palate and finish. Doesn't finish short, but isn't long either, and ends cleanly and balanced. This is a really good wine that is drinking great now, showing some youth and a bit of age. No rush on this, I'd say, but if you have some in your cellar, but totally worth checking in a bottle if you have multiples.

November 9, 2005 - A bit too bitter and salty on the finish. Fruit a bit muted but nice.

May 31, 2003 - Bright disc. Deep-to-opaque purple robe with purple rim. Clean nose, vibrant immediately after decanting. This initial nose shows intense coffee, black currants and creme brulee. Ninety minutes later, the nose adds elements of exotic spices. Full-bodied on the palate, with ample sweet tannins, medium acidity and similar flavors as for the nose. Long, smooth finish. Very nice. Quite drinkable now, but should benefit from some time in the bottle.
