December 5, 2021 - Vinetasters: Brown Bag (Skokie, IL): #07-07, 9% abv. Served double blind. Smells like a high botrytis wine, with just a little bit of funk on it. Incredibly thick texture here and without the bright raciness that I would typically expect for riesling. I ended up guessing that this was something like a Coteaux du Layon. Go figure; of course, this wasn't made by Hans-Leo, and the flabby 2006 vintage certainly is in line with the confusion here.

April 25, 2010 - Slide!! (Waterford Wine Co., Milwaukee): big diesel and peach expression. the suggestion of sweet all over the nose. doesn't show spice, but some honey/waxy textural thing. Moderate RS. 1/2 way to dessert and very nice for that. but the acid is, at this point, showing relatively low. medium- perhaps. this should harmonize more with time?

November 24, 2009 - Charismatic nobel rot nose. Very soft and silky palate. Rather low acidity. Deilicious but I wonder if there is enough acidity to move it into the future.

May 25, 2009 - Big boytris fruit here... Peaches and nectarines... Acidity however is not enough to support the sweetness and this comes off rather syrupy with a clumsy finish... Might be in an awkward place, but even after 2-3 days in the fridge, no development is noticeable... I think this is a prime example of the risks of overripe Ausleses...

    Price paid: $25
    Would I buy again? No

September 26, 2008 - Nose: Peach nectar, a hint of lemon rind; very pretty
Taste: Sweet tropical fruit flavors; nice acidity keeps the fruit in check balances it out; a small prickle after opening which quickly faded; complexity will come with age; very enjoyable.
