  March 15, 2024 - A rich, but balanced wine. Elegant poise with plum, damson, blackberry jam, gorgeous spice and minerally soils at its core. The herbal and stone notes in the finish are beautiful still.
  
  The lavish oak is holding this back a bit at this point in its development as the fruit slides into middle age, and its potency is moving backward a bit. There should be more of the terroir coming out at this point, but the oak is a bit intrusive.
  
  Good wine, but drink up. I'll hold one for the long term, but will plan on finishing these over the next 3-4 years.

  August 19, 2022 - Full bodied, complex with dark berry fruit and notes of sweet tobacco, leather, cassis, herbs and spices. This Bordeaux blend needs at least an hour for its massive tannins to fully integrate into the dark berry fruit. On the finish there are hints of chocolate and mocha furthering the complexity of this wine. While drinking very well right now, this wine has another 20 years left in it.

  January 30, 2022 - Kleur: Diep donkerrood. Aroma / bouquet: Indrukwekkend en aangenaam bouquet, uitgesproken, harmonieus maar verfijnd en klassiek. Donker fruit, kersen / cassis, chique hout. Daarnaast koffieboontjes, bittere chocola en leer. En tabak! Smaak / Afdronk: Wow. In de mond is deze 'Napa First Growth' al net zo indrukwekkend, gelaagd en verfijnd als in de neus. Geconcnentreerd, zachte zuurgraad, boterzachte en fluwelige tannines. Geweldig mooie balans, een wijn waarbij alles klopt en niets het evenwichtige beeld verstoord. Lange afdronk. Algemeen / potentieel: Prachtige, toegankelijke en klassieke Melbury! 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 12 + Smaak / Afdronk: 18 + Algemeen / potentieel: 9 = 94/100
  
  Colour: Deep dark red. Aroma / bouquet: Impressive and pleasant bouquet, pronounced, harmonious but refined and classic. Dark fruit, cherry / cassis, chic wood. In addition, coffee beans, bitter chocolate and leather. And tobacco! Taste / Aftertaste: Wow. In the mouth this 'Napa First Growth' is just as impressive, layered and refined as on the nose. Concentrated, soft acidity, buttery and velvety tannins. Wonderfully beautiful balance, a wine where everything is right and nothing disturbs the balanced image. Long finish. General / potential: Beautiful, accessible and classic Melbury! 50 + Colour: 5 + Aroma / Bouquet: 12 + Taste / Aftertaste: 18 + General / Potential: 9 = 94/100
