May 1, 2022 - Cork came out beautifully, stained maybe a quarter inch up the side. I was a little worried at first: there wasn't much apart from a generic 'aged red' quality. But after maybe an hour of the bottle being open, the wine blossomed.

Now: leather, blackberry, a little bacon fat/sanguine character, and some pepper. Fully tertiary at this point. The tannins are still barely hanging on, and the acid is good. The wine needed some air to put on body. There's more fruit on the palate than on the nose--lots of plum and blackberry. Still lots of leather though.

Overall there's not a lot of terroir left, but this is still a very respectable syrah.

March 5, 2016 - Thought it would be too old when before I opened it. But, the color was still good, and it was smooth. Better the second day after I put in in the fridge and chilled it down.

March 30, 2012 - This one just keeps getting better. Hard to believe it was a $10 bottle in PA.

October 8, 2011 - Dark. Evolved nose and palate. Rather muddled with oak. Bitterness on the finish. $21

June 13, 2011 - Blech! Decent nose, but the balance is far off. Way too acidic. The fruit and florals in the nose got crowded out by the high acidity and no complexity. Maybe a bad bottle? The reviews on this one haven't been sparkling, but I still expected better than this...
