February 11, 2018 - We had friends over and as she sometimes does, my wife heads into the cellar and pulls out a wine for us to taste blind. Darker in the glass, in both color and aroma, than one would consider "typical" for a red Burgundy. One could argue that Santenay is not a "typical" Côte d'Or appellation nor is 2005 a "typical" vintage. Santenay is the southern-most appellation and is known to be more rustic and coarse. 2005 was seen as a near "perfect" vintage with both quality and quantity. This wine is dark, opulent, and rich, which flies in the face of the its light, earthy, and introspective reputation. This is certainly more New World in style but clearly comfortable in its skin. thedrunkencyclist.com

October 15, 2015 - Medium to medium deep ruby w hint of bricking - nose is earthy, slightly volatile, cherry - palate has nice plush texture, well balanced, v g acid, but doesn't seem very "Pinot" - I would've had a hard time picking this as a PN in a line-up, seems 'big' w/o the N World benefit of the big fruit - seems to lack conviction.

January 2, 2015 - My last of three, and still showing well, though it is certainly time to drink up. Light-medium bodied, the perfumes take their time to unfold - the palate/flavors, too, take their time. Audozed 4 hours, re-corked and served 4 hours later, this continued to develop in the glass gaining some complexity and depth as it did. Never quite got to medium-bodied, which was fine as this was paired with salads and light appetizers. 13,0% abv, drink now.

Served non-blind; bought on release. Drink now and for the next few years.

October 27, 2014 - Very intense and fruit forward with darker berries and plums and chocolate and oriental spice.

September 10, 2014 - 3 hour decant first. I was a bit concerned given the last few reviews. Thankfully my bottle was fine. I won't say it was an amazing experience, but it had classic burgundian fruit and earth. The tannins were a bit on the astringent side. I'd say this has probably peaked. However it did have more fruit than most bourgogne level wines, even if not quite the PC level I'd expect. By the time the bottle was consumed the wine was light but in harmony.
