July 19, 2019 - Previously tried from bottle just over six months ago and also in June 2019 at the winery and my notes remain consistent. Nose showed honey, spices and floral notes with some orchard fruit the longer it was open, but the honey qualities seemed to overshadow them. Medium bodied and the fruit notes of slightly dryer apple and softer peach continue to be dominant. Mid-body is very rounded and open and the fruit feels balanced, not tired. Backside shows spices, floral notes and enough acidity for some tartness to creep in for contrast. This bottle didn't seem to have as much acidity is my prior one, or what I tasted at the winery, but with a nearly 13 year old FLX gewürztraminer, that's not surprising. I would drink this now as additional cellar time won't benefit. Very pleased I had the opportunity to try this wine so often over the past year.

June 14, 2019 - Tasted at the winery. Previously tasted form bottle six months ago and my notes were consistent. Nose continues to emphasize a mix of orchard fruit (especially apricot) and spices; less floral than my prior tasting from bottle. Medium bodied with the same mix of apple and peach upfront and through the middle. Spices, mineral and floral notes continues to come in on the backside and through the finish. The fruit continues to shine, coupled with enough acidity and spices for balance. I have one more bottle which will be saved for July 2019.

January 6, 2019 - First from bottle, previously tasted at the winery nearly two months ago and this bottle was very much in keeping with those impressions. Nose remains quite aromatic with the expected floral and spices notes along with apple, apricot, peach and honey. Medium bodied and felt a little soft and nearly sweet at first. But after about an hour, it had integrated quite well and fully recaptured my prior impressions. I mix of apple and peach notes upfront and through the middle, bringing in that oily, spicy note coupled with minerals towards the back. As it warmed and opened up, the spice note came out more cleanly and worked quite well with the fruit qualities. The acidity also picked up noticeably, providing good backbone and contrast. Overall, quite impressed with this showing from a 12 year old FLX gewürztraminer. With one bottle left, I will save it for June 2019.

November 16, 2018 - Tasted at the winery. Surprisingly enough, this seemed even more aromatic than the 2017, but had a distinct and strong note of apricot to go with the floral and spice qualities. Just to the light side of medium bodied (13.1% ABV) and still retains good fruit, mainly soft tropical. But what makes this wine interesting is the acidity. It still retains enough to work with the fruit so there's some brightness and liveliness here. Spice and floral notes show up on the finish. For a 12 year old Finger Lakes gewurtz, this retains an impressive fruit-acidity mix that creates a wine that is still quite enjoyable to drink. I probably won't push my bottles too far and expect both to find dates in 2019.

January 22, 2011 - Leechi, lemon, petrol, crisp, but not as acidic as i would have liked. Perhaps a bit over the hill.

(Herman J. Wiemer Gewurztraminer Dry Finger Lakes) Peach, lychee, spice and roses on the nose. Palate has ripe peach and apple flavors with classic rose, spice and toned-down lychee. The RS is barely noticeable because of very lively acidity. Finish is very long with melon and spice flavors.

(Herman J. Wiemer Gewurztraminer) #1; COLOR-medium golden; NOSE-pretty; like Sprite; beautiful lemon/lime action; dandelion weed; lemon tea component; TASTE-this wine is extremely acidic; beautifully well done; gorgeous mid-palate that really makes this effort; this is as good as most Gewurz's from Alsace in the $15-$20 range; beautiful golden apple components; little pear skin action; has a little bit of a sugar thing going on and then gets real dry; an absolute steal of a Gewurz; a beautiful effort; GV-90+
