February 10, 2024 - Lots and lots and lots of acid. Some white fruit as well, but it's mostly obscured by the wall of acid. For acid lovers only.

September 15, 2020 - An interesting showing and I'm not sure whether it's me or whether this is a temperamental wine. It started off a bit shut down but after an hour or so of air, it started to open up. It wasn't the dramatic, dragon slaying wine from a couple of weeks ago, but it was very, very good. I bought less of the trocken in the last few years because I don't think I really got it. Not going to make that mistake with 2019.

September 7, 2020 - OK, so this was crazy. After our last bottle of this wine, which completely turned my head, I was really looking forward to this and was confused that it wasn't showing as well. It took a while for me to figure out, in fact I finished a glass, but the wine was corked. Just goes to show what that mineral intensity can hide. I usually don't bother with notes on corked wines, but this showed just how intense this wine is.

August 25, 2020 - Wow! I've always respected this wine more than loved it but for whatever reason, this just knocked my socks off. It's not heavy, but more like a solid than a liquid. It has such an intense tactile presence. With our own take on poke with gorgeous super fresh Yellowfin from the NC this was just superb. It cut through everything and showed it's fruit and floral side but on it's own, the saline minerals lead the way. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. Like Briords on steroids. I'm not sure if this bottle has relaxed a bit from my last bottle or if it is just the way I approached it, but it was absolutely stunning. Since the secret is out on Falkenstein, it's time to start hoarding.

March 30, 2020 - Damn. I think I might respect this wine more than I enjoyed it. Really intense almost searing aromas on stone, mineral, brine and preserved lemons almost prepares you for the intensity of the palate. Really a fascinating wine but almost intimidating. Rates really high on the intellectual scale, but is tough to drink. The bottle lasted days in the fridge without budging. Respect.
