Community Tasting Notes 25

February 8, 2024 - The nose is rather reserved at first, it needs at least two hours for the clean and fresh aromatics of blackcurrant with hints of ripe gooseberries, tobacco, smoked meat and cedar to emerge. Palate echoed the nose. Energetic and zesty. A full-bodied structure filled much of the palate. Transition is somewhat patchy. Finish is a touch hollow in the middle, leaving an aftertaste of earthy nuances and bitter grape skins. At this stage of development, it is better to drink this with a steak or else let this age for another 3 years for better harmony.

October 9, 2023 - Possibly past its prime. Nose was ripe but berry-forward taste was bordering on funky.

May 10, 2023 - With beef stew, good.

March 31, 2023 - Nose of Bright red fruit with hints of oak and lemon.
Rather flat on on the pallet with mild tannins and nominal acidity. Certainly a passable everyday table wine.

January 16, 2023 - Supermarket wine with excellent price quality ratio. Lots of varietal cassis characteristics, ripe fruit, some oak, and smooth tannins. Maybe a bit too sweet and ripe for our taste, but definitely not a bad wine.
