Community Tasting Notes 8

  • Eudemis Likes this wine:

December 3, 2018 - 13% alcohol. Good cork, short but dense; minimal wine penetration except on one side where the bottling machine clearly damaged the cork superficially. Poured two glasses 20 mn ahead to provide a modicum of air exposure.
Very light ruby colour with significant thinning and the onset of browning at the edge of the rim.
Superb nose of red berries (both fresh and in coulis form) with a slight raisiny component. The mouth lives up to the nose, in a bright and feet-of-foot way, with excellent balance and refreshing acidity in the finish. Those who look for extraction and opulence in their Burgundies might be disappointed, but for me the light hand (including with oak) is welcome.
A great representative of the bright and fragrant style of Burgundy, maybe closer in spirit to the Côte de Beaune than the Côte de Nuits, but that is not a negative in my book. Never confuse concentration and intensity.
Drink over the next five years.
A repeat purchase in principle, ie depending on price.

July 4, 2013 - Hmm, sadly some corkiness (slight), but nice dense fruit beneath.

September 29, 2012 - Needs an hour or two after opening to show its wares. Then, a lightish but well integrated Chambolle, very tasty. Ideally, leave for another 2 years.

September 2, 2012 - Splendid village wine, just starting to come into its own. Popped and poured, quite closed initially but after an hour or so, vigorous full wine, slightly hard, seems too young still. But 12 hours later, softer, rounded, sweet, delicious, fabulous with lamb and garlic. No hurry with this one, but quality all the way.

August 10, 2011 - Glorious Chambolle perfume. Delicate colour. Thoroughly enjoyable village wine, persistent, long and sexy. Lasted well over 2 nights.
