Community Tasting Notes 3

July 5, 2014 - Lots of new oak on the nose, vanilla, butterscotch - but on the palate much more subdued. Still some citrus and lemon. Acidity quite subdued. Had a Art series last week, seems to be a WA thing. V Good though, wouldn't really keep any longer.

January 3, 2012 - Great Chardonnay that is drinking really well. The citrus fruit flavours have given away to the more secondary flavours .
Was up against two other 2005 Margaret river Chardonnays and did well against the leeuwin estate art series and the vases Felix heytsbury.
It was great to be spoilt for such choice

June 4, 2008 - Pairing dinner at Tetsuya (Tetsuya's, Syndey): Served with a Spanner Crab Rvioli dish and a course of Barramundi. This is a style of new world Chardonnay that I really dislike (meaning big, and super buttery oak), but I must say that I found this wine really quite good. Green gold in colour, the nose just screamed of buttered popcorn, my initial reaction was "typical Aussie Chard - where is the fruit under all that new French oak?". The palate was really different though. I was immediately struck by the fantastic balance and finesse of the wine. Everything was in the right proportion, lovely sweet tropical notes of pineapple and citrus and a lilttle mineral, a full but very focused mouthfeel, just the right amount of acid and structure and a really long, satisfying, nutty finish with a touch of flint. Not one I would drink regularly for sure, but a good wine nonetheless.
