July 13, 2013 - Pnp. No bricking, no sed. Just a nice cdr. Subtle fruit, good acidity. Food friendly. Not a word beater, but a sold bottle, maybe on its backside of life?

December 1, 2010 - This superb CdR is drinking at peak from our cellar. Not sure what to think about other recent reports indicating it may be somewhat shut down. Excellent balance between fruit, structure and acid, a fine finish... CdRs like this soften the pain of the price rises in CdPs that I used to buy regularly and no longer purchase, because this wine was completely satisfying.

July 24, 2010 - Strange, thought this was on the way out when I opened it. Not the case. Actually needed about two hours open to come to. Great nose of bright red cherry and cinnamon bark, fruitcake is a good descriptor too. On the palate very smooth kirsch, cherry, spice, with a med-full body. Finish is ringing a bit hollow. Tannin is still there so it has a few years yet. Good balance, lacking complexity. Good table wine at $18.

October 14, 2009 - Big, and rocked with fruit. Performing tight, this was a pleasure to consume. The many bottles I've had of this has never disappointed. On this particular evening, a Larosse from the early 90's did dwarf this offering. There could be some good upside potential with this, but we'll just have to see.

March 31, 2009 - It was not a great bottle. There was an initial dampened floral note that was taken over by a heavy tar & prune flavor. It was not as bad as the description sounds.

(Le Clos du Caillou Côtes du Rhône Cuvée Unique Vieilles Vignes) Vaguely black fruit and plum nose; ripe plum, black fruit and cherry palate with depth, best one of these I’ve ever tried; medium finish 91+ pts.
