Community Tasting Notes 5

August 18, 2023 - Aromas of ripe dark cherry, blackberry, some mint, pine, very lively and fresh. Tannins are there still, easy acids, juicy blackberry and cherry on the finish with herbal accents. The use of some amount of small new barrels is not so noticeable. Typical taste of Oregon, it's not my kind of PN, bur may improve over the next three years or more. Top paired with fontina from valle d Aosta (always pair wines with local food!!!) while staring at Mont Blanc

March 29, 2021 - Grosjean wines are always an enjoyable find. Smooth and deep black cherry with a hint of cola.

March 8, 2021 - Brief note. This is has light acid and tannin structure and a glossiness that makes me think of glycerin. Great fruit and perfect balance. Would mistake this for high end Oregon if tasted blind I think. Very good

March 4, 2021 - Very clearly Pinot, and quite polished, this is a real contender in the Pinotsphere. I think it might do very well in a blind tasting that included excellent Burgundy, Oregon, Otago.... Aromas of ripe dark cherry, wild blueberry, sweet blackberry, pan drippings, dark chocolate, vanilla, clove, fennel, mint, pine, beets, dark damp soil... Medium to full on the palate, but very lively and fresh. Soft and low tannin, easy acids, juicy blackberry and cherry on the finish with nice mineral and herbal accents. The use of some amount of small new barrels is noticeable, but the oak flavors are very well integrated and far from obtrusive. The overall impression is quite elegant and refreshing, and I imagine most tasters would not find the wood flavors out of place. Picky bastard that I am, I wonder if I would like this better if there were no barriques involved. Pretty serious stuff, I can see this developing well for 5+, maybe longer.
