November 6, 2013 - Gift from friend. Wine past it's prime. Bad cork.

February 4, 2013 - The '06 MacRostie has a shimmering, translucent golden appearance on a medium frame. Deconstructed granny smith apples, caramel, guava, citrus and melon lead the way. Medium, melded tropical-fruit finish. With bottle age the '06 has developed a rich texture, a faint nutty flavor, and an attractive kerosene-like pungency, while maintaining enough acidity to carry the ripe fruit. 14.1% abv. QPR: steeply discounted. Drink now.

October 16, 2010 - This needed to breathe before drinking and was more mellow and understated than bottles I had had previously. The nose was toasty with carmel and almonds. The toasted almond flavours carried through in the mouth with baked peach fruit flavours. Long finish of carmel and oak.

June 28, 2010 - A rich gold color, 5% opaque. Quite stinky with a lot of malo, almond, marzipan, and a pinch of something rotten. Not that it's offensive, but it sure is weird. Palate is relatively light and nicely balanced with juicy acidity and firm texture. But there are some flavors in here I've never come across before. I guess the word complexity is applicable but I'm not sure I want all that funky dirt, smoke, and wood. There is some nice vanilla and apple taste underneath but it might have a sulphate issue . Perhaps an off bottle. From 375ml (5+8+12+5) = 80

May 12, 2010 - Pleasant nose. Tropical theme with a light and clean texture. Only on the finish does a richness and butteriness come in. Tasted best when slightly chilled. Had quite a chunk of tartrate crystals in the bottom.
