July 6, 2012 - Same as the 3/1/11 wine except more approachable and better integrated.

May 24, 2011 - decanted for 1 hour and consumed over 3 hours. purple-black in the glass fading to fuchsia at the rim.

initial nose was of kneaded bread, syrupy black cherries, and sweet oak. over the course of the evening, the bread blew off but the nose never really evolved into anything interesting. certainly not bad, but nothing delectable.

the palate was where this wine really popped for me. explosive black and red fruits that muscled their way into every crevice of my mouth. i could have swished this around for hours!

the finish was short and played out the nose with a little added dark chocolate and baking spice component. but like the nose, the finish was pretty uninspiring.

the blend itself is not really my cup of tea (mostly merlot and cabernet franc), and this is probably $10-$15 overpriced for the quality it delivers. nevertheless, i did enjoy the wine and appreciated the exposure to something off the beaten path from my normal drinking habits.

March 1, 2011 - Deep red color. Aromas of dark fruits, mocha, cloves, cedar and spice. Ripe, rich fruit in the mouth with excellent depth and length. The wine has shed some of its baby fat but still has ample well-integrated tannins. Lots of Cab Franc character. A delicious wine that need about 30 minutes of decanting to really sing.
