  February 2, 2023 - I usually like and respect aglianico for its floral, spicy, rustic and earthy character. I don't know if I opened this too soon - it has been described as a young drinking wine - but to me, this is a hot, overripe example without the charming rustic/earthy tones and with what feels like a heavy hand of oak. It has some of those floral and white pepper notes in there - along with ample black fruit and graphite. But there are noticeable vanilla and wood notes that mask the charm. Palate is juicy fruity, hot, with sweet treacly wood tones. But, there is an underlying acidity to it that I find compelling. Where it is now, I do not much like it. Prhaps this needs some cellar time to grow into it.

  December 22, 2021 - This aglianico is a bit too fruit forward for me. Would prefer more rusticity.
  
  Edit: a few days later, stored under vacuum in the fridge, has muted some of the fruit (could also be the chill). Nicer than I remember! Cherry balanced with some rough tannins that linger.
