    September 12, 2021 - Tasted blind

Very dark ruby in the glass; completely opaque and “looks” manipulated with coloring.

On the nose, heavy toasted oak, vanilla, cherry, cassis, and capsicum. A bit thin on the entry but very long finish. Pretty tannic right out of the bottle, but opened up nicely in the glass. I think bottle age will add a point or two over the next few years.

Overall, I enjoyed this wine. Not my preferred style of cab, typically, but I found this wine to be more moderate in approach than Cali cabs

September 12, 2021 - Good qpr at $19. Not as good as 2017 but might improve with more time and air.

June 24, 2021 - The 2018 vintage for this wine is money! Back in the day, this was a second wine for Lancaster Estate. I distinctly remember being blown away by the quality of the 2004 vintage for this wine. A few years ago, they separated from Lancaster and became their own winery. Not sure how that separation impacted their source for fruit, but this vintage is every bit as good as the 2004 when they were still affiliated with Lancaster Estate. I haven’t checked the price of a 2018 Lancaster Estate Cabernet, but expect it would cost close to $100 a bottle. I’m not suggesting the Roth is as good as the Lancaster, but at $19 per bottle it is a can’t miss choice.

April 6, 2021 - Excellent Cab for the price. Well balanced and smooth, with many flavors coming through and a nice finish. The manager of the wine store I frequent recommended this wine highly and he was absolutely right.
