January 19, 2021 - Color: tawny. Nose: lightly stewed strawberry, prune, some alcohol. It has some freshness though. Palate: similar to nose, strawberry, fig, blackberry, some heat, a little bay leaf. chalky tannins, medium/low acidity. The flavor profile is showing some age, but it also has freshness to it still. This is a nice wine that has aged well. Based on previous comments, age has improved this a lot. 91 overall, 92+ for value.

November 8, 2012 - What a sleeper! I had bought a case around 2007, and was disappointed that it was pretty rustic and austere. We drank a few, and I left more in the cellar, expecting that the fruit would fade faster than the tannins. Fortunately, I was wrong. It's now clean, concentrated, and balanced with big fruit and a nice complexity.

January 1, 2011 - Opened for NYD Open House, and quite a few people asked directly about it. Well received. I unfortunately didn't get to taste beyond the opening bottle check...

April 5, 2010 - Easter Sunday Dinner started with 05 Sobon Estate Zin, followed by 05 Cliff Lede Cab then 04 JP - Bacus. The Zin was a nice start lighter in body, good fruit went down very easy. The wine has held up well and good for another year or so. The Cliff Lede was served just before and during dinner. A bigger wine, nice color, full body cab. Many nice flavors from start to finish. The Backus durring and after dinner. Slightly bigger than the Cliff Lede wine, drinking very well able to age another two to four years with ease. The last two wines were equally enjoyable but I say the backus the ability to age longer.
