December 5, 2023 - Italian Wine Scholar Class at The Texas Wine School. 100% Nerello Mascalese from the North side of Etna at approx. 2000' altitude. Med (-) ruby, with enticing aromas of red raspberry, red cherry, purple flowers, black plum, Mediterranean herbs and earth. Aged in cement and large neutral oak vats. Dry but sufficiently fruit-forward, with a pleasant crispness and freshness thanks to the altitude. Med to med (+) acidity, chalky tannins and alcohol (actually 14% but seems a little lower). Med (+) body and flavor intensity w/ a pleasantly saline and mineral finish. Well-balanced, versatile and a good value in the increasingly popular Etna category. Drink now or for the next several years, but IMHO not one for long-term aging since one of its appeals is the immediacy of the fruit.

October 1, 2023 - Didn’t have high hopes due to a recent, underwhelming experience with a 2020. The 2018 though is far better. No shit it tastes like a really good negroni.

May 10, 2023 - Medium-dense with good clarity. Plums, smoke, & earthy aromas on the nose. Mineral notes with dark fruit and earthy flavors. A bit grippy & tannic, but generally well balanced.

December 9, 2022 - Improved greatly after a day or two. A bit stiff off the cork - smooth & soft by the 2nd day. Good value but decant if drinking immediately
