April 6, 2014 - good wine , older burgundy , not so much pinot , like

December 16, 2013 - Dark red fruit nose with a touch of wood and spice followed by tamed dark fruit, some sauvage and austerity. Good mouthfeel and elegant midpalate, but this finishes with quite dry tannins and dissatisfying austerity. Bocquenet's '02 VR has been a much more pleasurable drink over the years compared to the NSG.

April 21, 2013 - Dark and impressively brooding. This is not your approachable, amicable 2002 village wine. It's a pretty dark earthy-stony-meaty-hole right now. Very broad shouldered for a village wine. There is fruit, and the balance is all there for a strong future. Hugely structured and at this point hinting more at future potential than current performance. A new producer for me and I was impressed. 89++

November 23, 2012 - had with the Turkey , somewhat cloudy , one dimensional , some fruit nose , opened 2 bottles only drank 1/2 of each.......24 hours later much more going on with this wine , multidimensional , still have another 1/2 bottle left.......better the second day for sure

November 7, 2012 - Here the nose is somewhat subdued, although you can coax out some aromas of dark red fruit, menthol, and a trace of wood. This is generous on the palate with dark purple and black fruit with hints of licorice as well. The finish is just a bit dry, but I think this will dissipate with a little more time in bottle. This has great mouthfeel, is quite transparent, and is a fine example of a burg with power without weight, albeit in the context of NSG and Bocquenet. I think Bocquenet makes such great wines year in and year out -- they just need ample cellar time to show their true colors.
