February 5, 2023 - The wine was super reductive on the first night. Finally the nose blows over the day after, showing higher tone red fruit and the typical vosne elegance.

January 31, 2023 - [Restaurant purchase] No detailed notes. Very approachable already; Elegant, gorgeous. floral, red fruit, subtle oak notes. Very good length

July 29, 2022 - Excellent, beautiful bottle of Pinot to enjoy for my 900th Cellartracker note. For me, not the best Burgundy QPR at this stage, but that's more to do with the style than the general quality.

Simply put, this is very reductive. Allen Meadows mentions it, and his note is spot on. Not so much reduction that it's "harsh" on the nose, but definitely obscured, with lots of sesame, thyme, peppery brightness that bullied the fruit into the background. At first I thought it was a super stemmy wine, but apparently there aren't any stems used here. Just beneath one can smell gorgeous, pure reddish fruits, ripe raspberry, some cherry liqueur, etc, some dark soil tones, maybe some cumin or other bright spice. It's a very austere nose right now that's tough to get a bead on, although it's expressive and I could see the fruit emerging nicely with time.

Palate is beautiful, also a little tense and hard to figure out right now, but there's no question that it's delicious. Clearer red cherry and very earthy, high toned raspberry again, interesting acidic lift that feels super vibrant, and somehow sits in the background behind the fruit, floral tones, and earth, like the flavors themselves are more prominent than the structure, if that makes sense. Both salty and spicy on the finish, lingering for some time, almost like a fancy chocolate bar with pepper and fruit. Speaking of structure, the tannins are surprisingly powerful and dense, not so much that it feels coarse, but pretty serious and chalky for any Pinot Noir.

This is my first Grivot- loved it, but it didn't grab me the way I was hoping it would considering the $110 price. I could see it aging beautifully though, assuming the reductive notes fade a bit. Almost feel I'm overrating it, but I can't deny it's both delicious and fairly complex, and I bet it would dramatically improve with time.

June 25, 2022 - Purchased a bottle on a trip. Lovely nose that is brighter with more red fruit than I expected. Floral with some spice also. The palate is fresher and more vibrant than the vintage report and is really quite delicious. Good stuff

May 23, 2022 - A darker, more opulent rendition compared to the ‘14 VR from Grivot but both show amazing transparency and terroir even in their youthful state(s)! Tons of. Asian spice box, violets, sesame seed with dark raspberry and baking spice. This is almost lush but with no lack of acidity or sense of clunkiness. Round, rich Vosne that does capture the allure of the commune already!

I have been quite impressed by the “forewardness” of the Grivot reds from recent vintages! This is delicious and should hold very well. Compelling stuff!!
