May 26, 2023 - Old Guys lunch on Tilia's lovely patio. In attendance CV/DM/JV/TS/SS/LI/KB. Great weather, great food & lots of laughs. I slow-oxed this at home for a couple hours before leaving for Tilia and removed the cork on arrival again. In hindsight a decant might have been preferred if only a couples hours is available to let it breath. It was classic Chambolle all the way. Elegant, lacy & finessed with pretty red fruit, spice & mineral. Hint of underbrush & berries on a reluctant nose. More air may have helped open up both the nose & palate. Even so, I couldn't help but gush over the two Chambolle in the flight. This could easily be a 93+ wine had I given it more air. Terrific none the less in its current semi stubborn, semi ungenerous state :).

May 26, 2023 - Old Guys Lunch: Hittin' the Patio Again (Tilia, Mpls): Medium plus sruby red color. Slow-O for 4 hours; drank a glass over an hour. Sappy red fruits, astringent, cherry and cranberry, tart, intense yet still finessed, quite youthful. Should flesh out nicely over time. 91(+)pts.

March 22, 2023 - Wow, I notice how much more a bottle of this costs these days, compared to say 10 years ago. But at the same time, the quality seems to have improved. Deep, dense and complex, it could pass as a grand cru. On the nose, black fruit and minerals dominate. And on the palate, it is velvety smooth, with a lightness that belies its powerful flavors. A terrific Chambolle.

December 10, 2022 - Surely one of the best ‘villages’ wines I have tried. So much perfume on the nose. Incredible intensity. Could there be some whole bunch here too ? The palate is much more lush than the nose indicated. Lots of lush purple fruits for me, as is often the case for warmer vintages. I can only dream of the days when you could buy these types of wines as ‘table wines’ for $20. You can probably expect to pay 4-5x that. But still, a lovely wine

June 26, 2022 - Sunday hangout (Chicago, IL): Absolutely gorgeous pinot noir. Incredibly enticing nose with tons of red fruit and a modest amount of spice, but the perfume here is quite intense indeed. On the palate, I really love the generosity of red fruit here, but despite the refreshing acidity, there is lots of richness and breadth here. Very, very convincing -- I might have to add this to my own cellar.
