June 23, 2023 - Aromatic nose of sour cherry, wild strawberry, sandalwood, dried rose petals and parma violet. There is a clean, fleshy feel to the velvety, medium bodied palate, sweetly concentrated but without being heavy or over-ripe. Aromatic and restrained, but with a deceptively firm structure, bright acids and mouth-coating tannins that soften with air. Drinking well but will cellar.

October 13, 2022 - WINE & SPIRITS TOP 100, SAN FRANCISCO (San Francisco, Ca.): Nose of red cherry, red currants, and floral notes of Old English Rose, big body, very tasty, rich fruit, mouth filling fruit, needs five years to peak, can age twenty years, long finish.

May 25, 2022 - Red cherry, iced tea, rose on the nose. I am no Barolo expert, but this seemed more pleasant than profound.

November 26, 2021 - Return to Piemonte!; 11/25/2021-12/4/2021 (Castello di Sinio, Alba, other various locations): From the Castiglione region. Bought in 2007. We did not taste the Pardano which was sold out but made off of the oldest vines. This was darker than normal. Made to age. Lots of red currant and other fruit that comes with wine that is both aged and heading that direction. At the end it’s the floral that you get from all of the Massolino wines. Tasty, but long term.
