    July 31, 2020 - 2nd of 2 bottles purchased at auction.
This bottle showed much better than the last, with less bitterness and more fruit. I guess you gotta expect some variation in 14 year old bottles of Cali Pinot. In any case, this was drinking very well - complex, deep, balanced, interesting, and overall pleasing. These W.H. Smith Pinots really seem to age very well.

    November 3, 2019 - 13.6% abv. Recent auction purchase.
Very similar to the 2006 Maritime that was drunk (partially) with this bottle. Which is to say, acid-driven and a bit shrill on the pop 'n pour, but filled in a softened with extended air. Again, this bottle was cloudy, but sound, with cherry and blood orange. Some bitter oak was also pretty prominent as well, which was a bit of a turn-off. Otherwise, this was in good shape and should continue to drink well for several more years at least, though I worry that the oak will continue to come to the forefront. Best on the 3rd day.

June 6, 2013 - A bit thin, bland and boring when I first opened it, but now that it's had an hour to open up, I'm starting to really enjoy it. It's still a bit muted up front, but there's some subtle "dusty" cherries emerging - and it's showing some very nice vanilla, maybe even butterscotch notes on the back end. CT is telling me drink up (I have one more bottle) ... but I'm not convinced it's done yet.

May 4, 2012 - Decided to plow through my remaining five bottles of '06 and '07 WH Smith wines until I got one that was drinkable. Based on prior bottles, I was not optimisitc. And this was worst fears realized. All five (two '06 Maritime, one '06 Umino, and two '07 Maritime) were poured down the drain. The '06s smelled of horse sweat and tasted of cow dung. The '07s smelled of cat urine and tasted like 7-day old beer. Just disgusting. Good riddance.

October 31, 2011 - Some wet hair notes in the nose, which blew off after about 30 minutes. The flavors are very simple, not much positive aroma.
