Community Tasting Notes 6

May 4, 2011 - On the nose, the wine sets up very powerfully. Full of dark fruit, spice and oak. First impression based on the nose it that it is going to be a "hot" wine. However, this wine has nicely integrated fruit on the palate. Well balanced dark cherry, a little bit of leather and then finishing with almost a semi-sweet chocolate taste. Became even better after decanting for 2 hours. Just slightly dry but has a nice, finish.

March 29, 2009 - Black cherry color. Blackberry and sweet pipe tobacco in a concentrated fruit driven nose. The medium plus body has excellent concentration but could benefit from higher acid as it feels flat after the initial taste.Soft fine tannins that are a nice feature but are not well integrated. Cherry is the prominent flavor chased with a touch of black pepper on a medium plus finish. At 8.99 this wine is an excellent value and easy to enjoy but fails to excite, I recommend decanting it for 2+ hours.

November 25, 2008 - quality bottle for everyday consumption. smell rounded berry, touch of oak and way smoother than you would expect from a wine this reasonable. one of the best QPR's out there.

May 20, 2008 - A beauty from Portugal. Purple-garnet, notes of plum and berries, some subtle oak; medium bodied; well balanced with smooth tannins especially with some areation; some concentration and liveliness in the palate; decent, respectable finish; interesting and unique Portuguese terroir.
