Community Tasting Notes 5

February 9, 2024 - On the nose, fruit and a touch of funk/earth (very slight though - as someone who is very sensitive to funk/brett, this wasn't offensive at all).

On the palate, pretty clean - red fruits and a hint of wood. Nice, pretty straightforward wine. Acidity is lower than I would have expected - not a flabby wine, but it's on the gentler side for a pinot for me. Fine purchase for $50.

August 5, 2022 - Drunk with Mark at lunch at Pravda. No formal note written. Mark talked about Bruno Clair Marsannays, which we both like, and found some of that Marsannay terroir here, albeit not to the Clair level. Lean with crunchy red fruit, some minerality with dried and freshly cut herbs and a touch of funky sous bois. Attractive, bright acidity. Tannins not grippy but a little rustic. Sufficient volume of fruit - a good food wine - but it finished somewhat abruptly. Quite forward suggesting a drinking window out to around 2030.

January 26, 2022 - A selection of the three best plots of old vines and named in honor of Cyirls great grandmother an important figure in the early days of the domain. Bright purple and sporting a notably richer nose that the Bourgogne Rouge with more generosity of fruit, succulent and svelte with some barrel toast. 86-88 points Jasper Morris.

September 8, 2021 - Nez de cerise très mure, sandalwood... Très beaux tannins mûrs, cerise rouge mure, delicieux, belle longueur, très beau mineral, très beau potentiel!
