Community Tasting Notes 9

November 18, 2022 - This is real nice. Nose is big blackberry jam, some alcohol, some oak. Palate is more of the same but the oak stays a background note, the acid is great, and the alcohol is noticeable but not out of balance. First 14% red I’ve loved in a _while_. Tannins are soft, drying but not raspy.

December 9, 2021 - Correct wine marked by the oak. Was nice drinking it but it didn’t give any emotion.

November 11, 2021 - 2017 Mencia: Dominio do Bibei Ribeira Sacra Lalama: Ribeira Sacra, Spain: 90% Mencia, 1% Sousón, 7% Brancellao, 2% Garnacha Tintorera: Pop and pour enjoyed over about 2 hours while enjoying some bites at Aldo Sohm Wine Bar. Wine in the glass has red ruby coloring that is slightly translucent, perhaps a bit lighter than I expected. Nose provided bright red fruits, raspberries, cherries, floral notes initially. Later glasses provided some coffee notes, herbs and a touch of pepper spice. The red fruits carry through to the palate with refreshing acidity and far structure. Wine Making Note: Lalama is aged in barrel of different sizes, lessening the oak influence. ~20 month aging

November 11, 2021 - Deep ruby. A fruit bomb on the nose! Medium(+) intensity aromas of ripe red and black fruit (black cherry, blueberry, redcurrant, rasberry, strawberry) and maybe same herbal hints (eucalyptus). Same aromas of medium intensity on the palate. Medium(+) bodied with medium tannins, medium acidity. The abv (14%) was a little bit noticeable. Medium finish.
