Community Tasting Notes 5

November 18, 2012 - Agree with previous note completely. Slightly insipid initially, but opened up over an hour. Wouldn't have wanted to leave it in the bottle too much longer.

March 10, 2010 - nose: very perfume-y, with flower petals and a metallic aroma
palate: light and smooth on the tongue, this has a sour strawberry essence coupled with a dirty minerality that I really like. High acidity and earthy tones stress the Italian in the bottle. It is on the simpler side of things, but it is one of the best $10 I've found in years. With a little more complexity, this would be in the 90-range. Rockin' deal, but drink now.

January 23, 2010 - Italian Varietals from WA/OR/CA and Italy...Blind; 1/23/2010-1/24/2010 (Eastside Wine Storage): nose: rose petals, cinnamon, red fruit tea
palate: red fruit, very pure and well-balanced, though not intense. I really liked this, though I didn't find it overly complex. But it's only $10! Stocking up time.

September 6, 2009 - True nebbiolo color in the glass and a near perfect aroma of sweet cherries, violets and dust in the nose. A wine for near term drinking the taste was about the cherries and earth balanced with soft but gripping tannin on the sides of the tongue. Long slow finish. A well made wine from a lighter vintage that is perfect to drink while waiting on the barolos and barbarescos to mature. Nice wine and great for the $13 price.

April 19, 2008 - a fabulous nebbiolo, especially considering the $18 price point. ruby colored with light edges. this has mushrooms, violets and a distinct green note on the nose, which is actually quite nice. almost a bell pepper. after being decanted for a few hours, this is still very tannic. but it shows bold flavors of tar, sour cherries and earth, all balanced with strong tannins and acidity. long finish.
