September 22, 2023 - Two hour decant. Very deep dark purple magenta color. Cassis, dark chocolate, and nutmeg. Dry, slightly chalky palate. Firm, full tannins on the medium long+ finish.

This continues to improve. Very solid for the price point. Continued to get better over two hours of drinking. I’ll likely give the next bottle a 3+ hour decant.

November 4, 2022 - One hour decant. Very deep dark magenta color. Bubblegum, black cherry, strawberry Fruit Roll-up, along with subtle citrus and minerality, on the nose. Smooth, dry palate, with modestly chalky acidity. Firm, full tannins on the medium long+ finish.

This was drinking a bit tight. Two hour decant is advisable. Not sure how much better this will get, but it drinks its price point.

February 4, 2022 - Two hour decant. Very deep magenta color. Black cherry, blackberry, violet, lime rind, watermelon Jolly Rancher, and minerality on the nose. Smooth, tongue drying palate, with grainy acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.

This has lots of room for improvement. The lime note makes the nose a bit too tart/green at the moment. I suspect that will diminish in the coming year and this will truly enter its drinking window.

April 30, 2021 - This rich and grainy Cabernet needs another few years to settle down, but it's solid value at the $75 mark (at least in Napa). Dark red in color; full in body; nose of boysenberry, graphite, and leather. Flavors of blueberry, camphor, and cocoa, with a grainy and dense finish. 14.8% alcohol.

I never try to think too much about what a winery website says, but it's interesting that JF defines his wines as Napa terroir with "French finesse." To me, that means let the fruit ripen, but dial back the extraction, let the tannins ride. This down-the-middle approach is fine with me, but I think it requires a little more time to come into its own. This could be a tremendous second wine in a few years, but it needs time. 93 at the moment, with upside in 2022 or later.
