Community Tasting Notes 1

June 9, 2022 - I could cut and paste most of my tasting notes for the 2019 Songbook and place them along with the beautiful 2018, with the exception of the slightly dialed-back ostentatiousness displayed with the 2018 when compared to the relatively more flamboyant 2019. The dark, black, and deep flavor profile on the 2018 is like melted licorice on the palate, with rich soil and black cacao elements that ring-around-the-rosie with a pocket full of ripe black raspberries, blackberries, black and red currant, and toasted spice notes. No black death inferences here though, with only black awesomeness spewing from the throbbing core. Saturated and controlled, this chewy monster has the perfect amount of finesse to provide a perfect glide of a delivery, finishing with a deeeeeeep and mouthwatering crescendo.

The 2018 and 2019 Songbooks are beautifully undulating wines that possess a great combination of rich character and astuteness. Drinking great now, the 2018 will continue to dish out oodles of goodness for the next decade, still maintaining amazing freshness, and continue to advance gracefully for a decade more. For me, it’ll be hard to keep my hands off the 2018 now.
