December 3, 2022 - Châteauneuf-du-Pape generally needs a decade, but this CDP tastes really good right now especially the next day !!
Perfect cork easily removed. Consumed over four days, acids were more dominant on the first day, but this CDP softened over the next few days to reveal greater depth and integrated complexity. Deep dark burgundy color with no oxidation, clarity medium. Aromas of black cherry with a hint of licorice. Flavors of black cherry, fig, blackberry, black pepper, glycerin, and leather with a good medium finish. A very balanced flavorful blend of 80% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre, and 5% Syrah from vines that range between 20 to 80 years of age. The grapes are 100% destemmed. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 12 to 14 months before bottling. This is an age worthy wine with many more years of life left. I still have a few to revisit over the next decade. Great fruit and a very good winemaking effort from Patrick Lesec. A pretty good QPR for a CDP that will deliverer the next 15 years.

October 16, 2022 - This old favorite really shone bright at family dinner on Sunday night! The wine was great after 15 mins chill then 1.5 hour swirl decant. There were classic CdP flavor notes of raspberry fruit, spice, and Prov. market. No kidding, our group went through 3 bottles on the evening - and then I promptly re-ordered. I think what we experienced here speaks very highly for the 2019 CdP vintage. Cheers!
