March 9, 2024 - Decanted a portion with stir and it opened after an hour. Vacuvin’d the rest. Same results on day 4. Tried PnP on day 3 but it didn’t really open well after 1-2 hrs (give this air). Rose petal, lilac, raspberry on the nose. Black cherry, raspberry, hint of dark chocolate and vanilla, with 30-35 sec finish. Nice pairing with sausage pasta and likely great with steak as well. Plush style of cabernet.

November 24, 2023 - Blackberry, black raspberry, black cherry, soil, and graphite dominate, with more power and darker fruit than the Red Hen served beside it, the 2018 Alluvium is a bit of a monster. Still, there is incredible balance and a deft attention paid to not going over the edge, by Napa standards. The control here is worthy, and makes for a poise that you don't often experience with the big boys on the block. Truly a solid effort, with a QPR that is even more solid.

July 7, 2023 - This wine from La Pelle is my new QPR champion in Napa. The value is off the charts. You get St Helena fruit, with a single vineyard source next Dr Crane; you get one of the most coveted and in demand wine makers in Maayan; you get a classically styled wine that doesn't kill the fruit of St Helena but still has elegance and age worthiness; and you get all of it for $140. Check some of his other projects - Tusk, Vice Versa, Dana, Lithology etc and look at the bottle price. This wine isn't far off and in some cases is better. Really an amazing value.

Not a ton of notes because I was too busy enjoying it. Versus the other SVD's from La Pelle, this has a touch more richness and opulence, which I like since Maayan is making these wines with excellent structure and good levels of acidity. This is a complete wine in every sense, with freshness, suave and refined sweet tannins, earth and mineral driven complementary flavors and tremendous dark fruit purity. It shows great depth of flavor and gives just about everything you can want in a Napa cabernet. Such an easy buy. And Maayan is a great dude. That always helps.

March 12, 2023 - Loved this as did the wifey. Open and expressive but not big and bold (for Napa).

February 9, 2022 - Needs a good decant. Dark black fruit with a touch of minerality and cocoa. It's got some pep and needs to settle down. Has runway to get better.
