January 2, 2023 - This was a really sensational Riesling, discovered from Source Material. Impressive and compelling.

September 23, 2022 - A bit shy on the nose at first with some faint citrus and limestone. After some 20 minutes in the glass a cheesy lees notes emerged that was quite a bit overwhelming and tough to get past. Two hours in and it became more manageable. A bit of tropical fruit and ripeness with lots of herbaceous notes. Amchoor, dhania, and a very mild hint of cooked down asafoetida. A very unique expression of Riesling, but doesn't quite do it for me. AP 04 21

    ABV: 12.5%
    Closure: natural cork
Decant: N/A, drank over the course of 6h

May 22, 2022 - This is a new producer to me from a region that I am not very familiar. So, I very much walked into this one with no expectations and without much context. I ended up enjoying this bottle over 3 days and it really benefited from the time open.
The nose initially reminds me of Pfalz with ripe herbaceous fruit tones. But gradually this wine became its own thing, like no other Riesling I have had before.
A dry wine with notable extract, this showed oxidative notes that gave more depth and texture rather than the impression of maderization. Smokey herbs, Valencia orange oils, bitter melon, and the most enjoyable note of pear cider.
I really enjoyed the evolution of this wine as I checked in on it each day. After finishing the wine on day 3 I decided to read what Stephen Bitterolf of Vom Boden and Source | Material had to say about it. I was amazed at how similar our experiences were and enjoyed reading his thoughts on this exciting new wine. This is yet another example of the fact that Germany is quite possibly the most exciting wine producing country in the world right now.
