March 23, 2024 - 14.0% abv. One of the best Cali Pinot Noir’s I’ve had: restraint, acidity, perfume, length - hard to ask for more. Clear garnet, prodigious clear legs, primarily red fruit, Christmas tree, underbrush on nose. Med plus weight and mouthfeel. It just snaps into place on palate: long and juicy acid, red fruit, Asian spice, green tea, very long and layered finish. One to enjoy now and lay down for a decade, or more. Very well made.

Day 2 - still strong and enjoyable, but less exciting overall. Re-rated accordingly.

November 14, 2023 - Wow, this was just amazing tonight. So burgundy-esq.
this isn’t even at peak yet, so much more here that will even get better with a year or three more in bottle. I’ll save my last one for a few more years even though it’s so good now.

March 31, 2022 - Okay, so when I think of VV, Pinot doesn’t jump to mind, but I’m aware of the proprietors’ love for Burgundy, so I was hopeful this wouldn’t be an overcooked, baking spice-laden RRV-style Pinot, and it wasn’t . Red raspberries, red cherries, red currants, forest floor, fallen leaves, earthiness and ground spice. Really notable acidity gives this lift and freshness, all the more appreciated after the cabs, which while wonderful, started feeling slightly ponderous as I got to the end of the lineup. Although I tend to like my Pinots young to preserve that freshness, this also some good tannic structure, and I think that there’s upside here as well. 94+
