January 14, 2024 - Based on other notes, not certain what to expect. Enjoyed initial crisp minerality. As opened in the glass revealed what i term citrus notes. Had to force myself to slow down. Consumed over 90-min from Riedel Sommelier series Burgundy stemware.

December 15, 2023 - I am not sure what I paid for this bottle but I am not sure it was in line with what I got out of it. I've loved other Lato Chards I've had through the years, but this one to me felt a bit leaner. Minerality was there. This is definitely a mineral driven white and that was the best part of this wine. The yellow fruits were a bit lacking here for me. Peach and pear seemed to be very much in the background of a white pepper and mineral driven acidity. I did not appreciate any flaws or cork taints here. I just honestly think this wine was just not in a great place as it is obvious that others' interpretation of this wine are quite different from mine. If I had to do it all over again I'd hold this one another 6 months and give it another try. But this is my only one, sadly. Drink? Hold? You decide. I'd probably hold.

August 7, 2023 - Not quite as good as some of his other Chardonnay’s I’ve had. Still an excellent wine and 93 is a great score. He does balance the acidity and the size of the wine very well as you do still have plenty of weight and that classic California Chardonnay flavour profile, but it’s carried off in a wonderful fresh style.

    March 28, 2022 - I’m between a 92-93 here. Rounding up due to potential.

A producer I’ve had a few times over the years that for some reason I didn’t explore, even though I always quite enjoyed them (chards and Pinots alike). I picked up a few random bottles from the winery to explore more, and was told to start with the offering as it’s easily accessible.

Down the middle style when it comes to Cali chard. Coastal (bright, sea spray, crystalline), but ripe (beautiful juicy orchard fruits). In the background there is a sweet lemon flair. Aromatics and palate match up, though it had some flinty reduction notes to blow off when opening. Profile wise, I’d say this is more soft and rounded than Ceritas, but not as powerful or bold as Aubert/Marcassin.

September 28, 2021 - My first Lato Chardonnay from this vineyard. Definitely citrus cream on the palate. Elegant and airy with no rough edges at all. Kind of a lemon whip flavor. Nice structure and body and very enjoyable from beginning to end. Clearly shows it class and pedigree. I love what Paul delivers in his Chardonnays- always top notch!
