    December 2, 2023 - 2019 Tiberio Montepulcino d’Abruzzo. Alc 14.5%

Tart cherry, licorice, violets and dusty tannins. Very intense and structured. Impressive

August 7, 2023 - This was the third wine in our lineup and the crowd was excited for this Montepulciano from Abruzzo on the eastern shores of Italy. It was deep ruby with medium viscosity and slight staining on the walls (14.5% ABV). On the nose the tasters got cherry, dust, must, cigar, damp cave- which blew away to reveal black olive tapenade, earth and a gamey hint- really red fruit driven with the earthy inflections. The palate was dry with medium (+) acidity, medium (+) tannins and a medium (+) body. Flavors of cherry, pepper, smoke, and a slight bitterness that led to a black tea mid-palate following through to a medium (-) finish. Overall it was a decent drop that got 16 points and 91 technical points. For $23 it gets 5 stars, pair with pasta (duh) and drink till 2028.

May 7, 2023 - Bursting with flavour this tasted of intensely fruity ripe cherries with a hint of violets. There was a slight prickle on the tongue and the tannins were very soft. Spicy and warm this fattened out to give off rich dark chocolate. Rather than simply becoming a fruit bomb this did have some saving acidity which helped restore the balance. Very moreish. CHP 89 pts

January 27, 2023 - Give it 20 min of air. Soft tannins, juicy black fruit alluring violets and purple flowers. No sense of rusticity, but not the heights of finesse from some of their other wines. Fantastic value at the price though for everyday drinking

December 15, 2022 - Dark purple in color. Black cherry, plum, blackberry and raspberry; smoke, vanilla, dried herbs. Similar on palette, plush, with some graphite and med acid and med+ tannin. Lovely weeknight pasta wine.
