April 20, 2021 - 2016 Domaine des Baumard Le Petit Paon was honeyed, approachable and balanced. The Loire sweet wine was pale gold in colour, with notes of honey, marmalade, quince and ripe red apples. It opened up gradually over a week of consumption. The mouthfeel was luscious and rather full-bodied, balanced high level of rounded acidity. There were flavours of apricot and honeyed citrus zest in a medium finish.

According to the winery website, it was a blend of Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay. The grapes were grown on multiple unspecified plots, and the wine was classified as a humble Vin de France. The alcohol level was at 12%. The residual sugar concentration was 128 grams per litre.
