  April 28, 2024 - Tasted after a 45 minute decant. Dark ruby in colour with slightly restrained aromas of liquorice & leather, somewhat herbal (dill). On the palate, full bodied juicy & very tart black fruit, boysenberry/blackberry, raisin, jam, herbal, medium acidity, medium soft tannins with a long finish to pepper & leather. This wine is still bold & lively, & hasn’t really changed much in 2 years since tasting the previous bottle. Excellent!

  April 26, 2024 - Not the worst pull for a client dinner at a random country club in Orange County. Especially with 5 years on it. Decanted for an hour.
  
  Ripe black cherry, ripe red plums, black pepper, "wild berries", ripe blackberres, espresso/mocha and cedar on the nose. Medium + intensity of aromas. Palate is more primary, showing a burst of ripe black cherry followed by plums and a little bit of cedar and coffee. Texturally sandy.
  
  Medium + body, medium acid and medium - tannin. 15.1% ABV and hides it pretty well. There's definitely oak here; but this reigns in the worst excesses seen, unfortunately, on a lot of California Zinfandel. Plenty of varietal character. Drinking quite well now, and structure tells me it won't get much better from here.

  January 26, 2024 - Après un chardonnay légèrement beurré, c’est ma deuxième expérience avec un vin de Hartford. Ici c'est un zinfandel provenant de différents vignobles de la Russian River Valley. Titrant plus de 16 degrés d’alcool à première vue, il peut faire peur. On pourrait facilement s’imaginer un monstre sirupeux et confituré, mais non, ce vin à la robe légèrement pourpré et dense est tout de même élégant. Il s’ouvre sur des notes de fruits rouges, de tabac et de cigare. La bouche loin d’être lourde offre une belle fraîcheur avec aussi des saveurs de fruits rouges et noirs. Les tanins sont soyeux et tendres. La finale est longue et tout de même rafraichissante. Les 16 degrés se font oublier et c’est tant mieux.

  January 12, 2024 - Bright crimson in color. 15.1% ABV. Sublime nose of red fruits, peach, baking spices and pepper. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Bursting with bright, sweet fruits. Perfectly balanced. Black cherry, raspberry liqueur, anise and pepper on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Fantastic Zinfandel that is lush and rich but still refined and elegant. Best over the next 2-3 years.

  October 19, 2023 - I noticed another review mentioned Seghesio Zin in comparison to this Hartford, but I think it’s a vintage thing..this is a really good 2019 Zin, but cannot compare with the Hartford or Seghesio 2017 or 2018 vintages. In any case, we enjoyed this wine with a spicy lamb stew…good complimentary flavor profiles.
