April 11, 2022 - Napa Trip - Trying new wines and meeting new people; 4/11/2022-4/12/2022 (Napa): This was probably the most prettiest on the nose with lots of red and white flowers. Thank goodness I don't really get any bell pepper in here, if at all. Red fruits with a soft bright sheen to it and earth on the palate. I have much experience with cab franc but this was quite nice. This smelled so pretty that this can be used as a perfume.

April 11, 2022 - Spring 2022 Dream Napa Trip; 4/11/2022-4/12/2022: Softer than To Kalon, maybe more feminine. Red fruits, cherries, very cab franc on the nose with floral notes, rose petals.

July 27, 2021 - Vice Versa weekend and dinner: Similar to my experience with this wine back in April, the Beatrix showed a healthy dollop of red berry, cassis, earth, dry flowers, and an almost-Grenache-garrigue element that provides an herbal tinge to the finish. A lot of zip and energy here. Ideally a wine to age for a handful of years before it is ready for prime time. For those who can’t help but sample the Beatrix early, be sure to give it a good deal of air. The back end shows a little blocky with some tannic angularity due to the perception of alcohol at first. However, strong swirling is the solution and allows for the wonderfully pure fruit to show its potential. 66% Cabernet Franc. 34% Cabernet Sauvignon. If you love a solid CF, this is a winner for sure!

July 24, 2021 - Vice Versa Wine Dinner: Had this directly next to the TK, so it was interesting to have Cab Sauv and Cab Franc from the same vintage and vineyard next to each other. Starts with typically excellent Franc-like notes of rose petals, raspberries, cherries, pencil lead and cedar. A bit of a redder profile than the other wines, this is seriously fresh and taut, with lots of savory notes. It is a tad sharper than the other wines in the tasting, needing a bit more time to round out and come together, but It’s got a great structure to age and excellent length. I’ll look forward to tasting this one in 5 years. 95

April 30, 2021 - 3 days in Napa: Arkenstone, Memento Mori, Maxem, The French Laundry, Christopher Tynan, Kinsman, Harlan, Vice Versa, Accendo, Fairchild, Macdonald, and a truckload of others (Napa): Barrel sample. Immediately recognizable as Valley Floor/Oakville fruit. Big, warm, fruity, and earthy, this specimen is a To Kalon mullet on the palate: Cab Franc on the front end, Cab Sauv on the back. The initial attack is a big push of red berry fruit, cassis, and floral elements, while the rolling delivery toward the tail tenses up and becomes a hair less fruity, finding an adequate lane and kicking out more dark black currant and earth notes. Black and red fruits plastic-sword-fight each other for attention, with a playful energy that brings lift and excitement.
