December 8, 2023 - Restaurant purchase and compared it to a Brunello. There was no comparison. This wine was superior by leaps and bounds!
However, it also is way too early for this wine. It never opened until the 4th hour and even then, the usual layers of fruit and characteristics hadn't evolved enough.
It was purple and brooding. It was very structured and closed. It was also delicious!

Viscosity high mouthfeel
Body full
Tannin high. Not close to being resolved.
Buy as much as you can find!
I expect that score on this one to be 97-100 in future.

September 5, 2023 - Had this last week after a 2010 cantemerle and a 2009 la Fleur Bouard and the Rioja was a surprising disappointment. In particular, the oak just felt disjoint and a bit out of place after the balance of the Bordeauxs. Hopefully these come together in another 10-20 years.

May 13, 2023 - This is just a baby. But smells of fresh broke cherry, wild flowers, bark, strong cinnamon and clove, deep split oak. The mouth is so big it makes your mouth water. Gritty mouth coating, did I say gritty, tannins. And the longest finish I remember, minutes.
