Community Tasting Notes 7

June 24, 2022 - My favorite Prosecco, along with CASA COSTE PIANE Prosecco. They are imported by Neal Rosenthal and Louis Dressner respectively. The Bisson is bone dry, with a nose of apples, roasted almonds, and a salty finish. An excellent pairing with Friday night sushi.

May 9, 2022 - Bingo! We've been working through a case of Spanish and Italian sparkling wines, and this is the first definite repurchase. Perhaps by the truckload. At $17 per bottle, this is a world-class bargain.

The first good sign is that it is imported by Rosenthal, whose tastes align very closely with my own. The second good sign is that the guest for whom we were pouring the first glass was very excited, because she had first discovered this wine two weeks ago, and had spent much of the intervening time tracking down cases of the wine, for which she was prepared to drive to a different state.

Bottled under a crown cap, unusually (and in defiance of the appellation requirements). Low alcohol, extremely dry, medium bubbles, very pale, no fruitiness, but a distinct slatiness and a suggestion of almonds. We tend to think of the Italian sparklers as champagne alternatives, but this isn't really trying to imitate champagne at all. You could just as easily think of it as a beer alternative. Either way, it is delicious.

April 8, 2022 - Minerality, citrus and tart apple on the nose. Big, round bubbles on the palate. Nice flavors of tart apple and citrus but nothing very prominent. Somewhat lacking structure with little acidity. While not incredibly complex in any case its a wonderful lunchtime dining partner :)

April 7, 2022 - In my opinion a farmhouse style of Glera. Not meaning funky, but instead straightforward with a nose of sweet, sun-warmed hay and a whiff of honeysuckle. What I'd pop for a midday lunch or picnic.
