April 26, 2024 - Still a great easy drinker. It has improved some over the last year. Recent tasting notes have it covered.

March 11, 2024 - Love this wine. Certainly worth more than $15.50.
Almost as light as pinot noir, but earthier.2 people found this helpful Comment -

February 6, 2024 - This has a fresh, rich nose of fragrant rose petals married to the lively fruitiness of a Barbera. Despite the light color, the texture is full and a bit chewy which adds some heft to the experience. Has a definite piquant quality on the palate that adds to the brightness of the wine. A happy wine.

January 10, 2024 - I thought Denny profiled the wine quite accurately, it is a great rustic-style Italian wine with lots of fruit and a long finish. I'd add that it had a lot of complexity, with quite a few harmonious notes coming together. Not a lot of tannins, it fits that niche of lighter style wines, such as Barbera, Dolcetto or Beaujolais. Had it with salmon, which paired beautifully.
Where I differ from Denny is the score. While it obviously isn't 98 like Gaja Sprerss Barolo, it really does punch far above its +/- $15 price point. I'd have guessed $25. Of course, I love old world wines and this is very much in my sweet spot, profile-wise. I'm giving it 91. In contrast, I'd probably under-score California cabs vs general population so it takes a village of course!3 people found this helpful Comment -

December 18, 2023 - A very pale garnet, tinting to brown at times.
On the nose: cherries, red current, anise
On the palate: Cooked cherry sauce, tart red berries, and ... cherry poptart? Long finish. Acidic, with rustic tannins. In fact, I would say this wine is pretty rustic all around. Luca Maroni gave it a 98...
Until drinking this wine, I never thought about the controversey behind Luca Maroni's scores... but this wine is no where near a 98 as the rest of the wine world knows that score. Mid 80s, at best, if you ask this non-professional, WSET L2 reviewer. :) So I am scoring it there, will full discloser that I would have scored it slightly less, but I am taking my bias into account, since I didnt caer much for this wine.
So... Not my cup of tea, but, if you like rustic Italian reds, you may love this one.
